IN JULY OF 2010, WHILE I WAS AWAY ON PERSONAL BUSINESS, THE AIR CONDITIONING FAILED AND TEMPERATURES IN MY SEED STORAGE AREA ROSE SO HIGH THAT MANY SEED VARIETIES MAY NOT BE VIABLE. I have decided to continue the business. I will be offering fewer varieties for sale. I have never grown chiles to harvest and sell for seed and many of my reliable seed suppliers have merged or gone out of business. I'm afraid that some varieties are gone forever. At the same time, competion has increased. Unfortunately, many of those now selling seeds are plant growers who are either clueless about cross-pollination or unscrupulous, or both. I have disabled the ordering link but will leave much of the website up because some of the information may be of interest or value to some of you. On 9 December 2010 I took 14 varieties to the New Mexicostate seed lab for germination testing. I expect to have results by 23 December 2010 and hope to begin limited sales. I plan to take another batch of 20 or so to the lab during the week of 3 January 2011 when they reopen after the holidays. If you are interested in a particular variety for 2011, please send an e-mail and we will try to include it in the next test batch. First Test Batch (600 seeds each): Achard C. Baccatum Chimayo C. Annum Dave Anderson TLCC In the United States and Mexico it's spelled Chile. In the United Kingdom and many other english speaking countries it's spelled Chilli. It should never be spelled Chili because that's a concoction of meats, spices, secret sauces and sometimes even beans. So if you like Chiles or Chillies, please check out our web site.
TLCC sold seeds for several varieties of the HABANERO Chile Pepper, the hottest commercially grown Chile. One variety of HABANERO is pictured above. The other image is of SCOTCH BONNET CHILES which was taken by Jim Campbell of Mild to Wild Herb and Pepper Co. when we were assisting the Jamaica Agriculture Development Foundation. The photos show the distinct shape of each.
